Build your understanding of different perspectives by listening with curiosity. Through in-depth one-to-one breakout exercises and short plenary exercises, Darthmouth faculty and staff will learn the basic workings of our “knowledge emotion” and how to wield it to help bridge the divides that paralyze us.
As a participant, you will practice:
- Detecting assumptions that can block meaningful inquiry.
- Using gaps in your knowledge to fuel understanding.
- Asking uniquely constructive types of questions when discussing political or controversial issues.
- Formulating questions that clarify another person’s perspective while avoiding pitfalls that divide us.
Registration is required.
