One hundred years ago, Mendel Beilis, a Russian Jew, was the last European put on trial for the medieval crime of using Christian blood for ritual purposes. His trial polarized Russian society. The blood libel, however, predates Christian anti-Semitism and has taken on new life in the rhetoric of the Arab-Israeli conflict.
Free & open to the public.
