The Dartmouth Center for the Advancement of Learning (DCAL) and Scholar programs, Undergraduate Research, & Fellowships (SURFD) are thrilled to cohost a workshop for secondary mentors working with undergraduate researchers in Dartmouth’s science labs.
For first-time researchers, joining a lab can be daunting; understanding expectations, where they fit in, and when to ask for help are barriers that we hear from students all the time. Establishing a good relationship with secondary mentors (lab staff, postdocs, graduate students, and older undergraduates) can make all the difference in a student’s decision to continue research or even to remain in the STEM fields. The workshop will be held on Tuesday, February 3, from 12-1PM. We encourage participants to join us in person at DCAL’s offices in Baker-Berry Library (and enjoy some lunch-time refreshments) but there will be a virtual option for those located offsite. If you have secondary mentors in your lab who could benefit from this opportunity, please ask them to register here. Location
