With the widespread availability of AI tools, fostering  deep conversations about and analyses of texts and other media has become  more difficult than ever, even in the classroom. Social annotation tools such as Hypothesis can help support that engagement by  creating social accountability, enabling in-text instructor modeling, and facilitating text- and media-specific discussion via quote-based comments and threads as well as peer feedback.

In this session, we will explore examples of social annotation assignments in Dartmouth courses, and participants will have the opportunity to do some hands-on annotation using Hypothesis, with guidance from facilitators. Register here.
