October Faculty Seminar: Climate, Energy and Society
The opening talk of the 2026-2027 Faculty Seminar Series!
Join the Dartmouth Climate Collaborative, in partnership with the Irving Institute for Energy and Society, for a special faculty seminar.
Speaker: Kate Maher, Professor of Earth System Science at Stanford University and Senior Fellow at the Woods Institute for the Environment. Professor Maher's research examines the carbon cycle through multiple lenses, from the history of atmospheric carbon dioxide and its impact on the evolution of life to strategies for sequestering carbon today.
Talk title: Carbon numbers without receipts: Measurement, markets, and climate governance
Special guest: Dr. Ansley Booker, Executive Director of Dartmouth NEXT, will join to share more about the university-wide initiative that is expanding opportunities for students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Registration is required, and seating is limited. Register to attend in person or online.
Lunch will be served at 11:45 am. The talk begins at 12 pm, with time for Q&A at the end.
