The MHCDS graduates, reports Bloomberg, are “largely executive-level employees of the Mayo Clinic, UnitedHealth Group Inc., and top U.S. hospitals.” The students, who entered the program in July 2011, developed their own projects, which included “examining benefit packages that promote the health of Vermont residents, creating a nationwide treatment model for one of the most common lung diseases, and reducing preventable blindness in India,” the article explains.
In an interview with Bloomberg, Robert Hansen, the faculty co-director of the MHCDS and senior associate dean at the Tuck School of Business, says that the country is “spending so much money and yet we know the outcomes in terms of quality are not as good as we’d like them to be. It cannot be the same old way. It is not going to work.” The MHCDS students, Hansen continues, “are looking for tools to find solutions that are scalable.”
