Will 3-D printing live up to the hype? This was the question posed by The Wall Street Journal to a group of experts, including the Tuck School of Business’ Robert Howell.

Comparing 3-D printing to the early Xerox machines, Howell says, “3-D printing can be expected to be similarly evolutionary and revolutionary.”

In terms of the practical applications of 3-D printing, Howell, the David T. McLaughlin D’54, T’55 Distinguished Visiting Professor of Business Administration, tells the Journal, “It will not be long before dentists, jewelers, and other small businesses will have machines to produce tooth replacements, unique pieces of jewelry, and other products for their customers.”
