In an opinion piece in The Wall Street Journal, Matthew Slaughter of the Tuck School of Business writes that despite a growing concern about stagnant or decreasing incomes, federal measures to address the problem are missing an important element: harnessing market forces to provide more jobs that pay well rather than just more jobs.

“Are there companies in America paying high and rising wages? Can policy makers support the hiring of these companies? The answer to both questions is yes,” writes Slaughter, Tuck’s associate dean for faculty, the Signal Companies’ Professor of Management, and faculty director of the Center for Global Business and Government.
