Each autumn, over the course of a single day, ginkgo trees lose all of their leaves. As golden, fan-shaped leaves from Dartmouth’s ginkgo flutter down onto the Green, College Arborist Brian Beaty explains what makes this particular tree so special. A gift from the Class of 1950, the tree was planted in honor of President John Sloan Dickey ’29, who served as Dartmouth’s president from 1945 through 1970.
