As part of the Department of Anthropology’s “Digging Dartmouth” course in archaeological field methods, students this spring have been excavating a house site just south of where Parkhurst Hall now stands.

Susan Augusta Brown lived there until her death in 1900, and the dig for artifacts has concentrated on the cellar and privy, which were left in place when the North Main Street house was demolished.
