Book Arts Workshop-Letterpress Specimen Book Project

Printers type specimen books have been a vital part of print shops almost since the invention of moveable type by Gutenberg in the 15th century. In keeping with that tradition, the Book Arts Workshop at Dartmouth needs volunteers to help set and print specimen lines of the large collection of type faces in the workshop.

Calling all current and former participants in the Book Art Workshop!

We will begin the evening looking at some of the classic specimen books printed since the 19th century. Participants will have an opportunity to set and print their own specimen lines using some of the many shop type faces. Previous experience in the workshop is necessary. Add your legacy to the Book Arts Workshop specimen book to be seen for many years to come.
