Diversity Outdoors Conference

Prepare a tasty camping dish with outdoor enthusiast & chef Kena Peay. Peay is passionate about diversifying the outdoors and food eaten in the outdoors. Peay competed on NBC’s Food Fighters in 2014 and uses TikTok and Instagram to share trailside recipes to her more than 70,000 followers on Instagram and 300,000 followers on TikTok. Register at dartgo.org/all-outside and meet on Robinson Hall lawn from 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday, April 16.

This event is part of All Outside, the Dartmouth Outing Club's first conference on Equity and Inclusion in the Outdoors. The conference is running from April 13 to April 18, and all members of the Dartmouth community are welcome to register for events at dartgo.org/all-outside.

The Diversity Inclusion Justice and Equity (DIJE) Division of the Dartmouth Outing Club believe this conference will allow the Dartmouth community to dive more deeply into what it means to have an inclusive club and equitable access to the outdoors. Conference events include panels, beginner outdoor skill sessions, workshops, an overnight, a feed, and beginner outdoor trips! Visitors to campus include hiker and chef Kena Peay, Rich Holschuh of the Atowi Project, Syren Nagakyrie of Disabled Hikers, Kareemah Batts of Adaptive Climbing Group, Jasmine Maisonet of QPOC Hikers, and Jeff Alexander of Vermont Adaptive.

For those who consider themselves part of the DOC, DIJE hopes this conference will illustrate that equity in the outdoors is a pressing issue for the club and the wider community and give them the motivation and skills to begin addressing it in their communities. For students who may not currently see the DOC and/or the outdoors as a place for them, this conference is one step toward making these spaces more inclusive.

Registration is now open at http://dartgo.org/all-outside. The conference calendar, poster, and speaker list are available at linktr.ee/alloutside.
