Rick Perry’s Flat Tax Plan Falls Flat (The Guardian)


David G. Blanchflower, the Bruce V. Rauner Professor of Economics, reviews GOP presidential candidate Rick Perry’s economic plan in this commentary for The Guardian.

The “Cut, Balance and Grow” plan would allow Americans to choose between a 20 percent flat income tax and their current tax rates. It also features lower corporate taxes and major cuts in public spending.

“Perry’s plan has the potential to push the US economy into a death spiral of decline,” Blanchflower writes.
