Agroecology, Both a Science and a Movement

Environmental Studies class learns about sustainable food systems at Organic Farm.

Students in the “Agroecology” class taught this summer by Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies Theresa Ong learned about a transdisciplinary topic that combines aspects of sociology, political science, economics, and ecology.

They also did independent projects at the Dartmouth Organic Farm, or as Zoe Moon ’24, puts it, the class “immersed me right into the field, quite literally,” another example of how Dartmouth uses the outdoors as a key component of education.
